About the practice
Web Analytics grew from evening chart study groups in regional New South Wales into a focused teaching studio for classical chart pattern recognition.
Why we exist
Price charts already hold a public record of buying and selling pressure. Classical pattern recognition is the craft of reading that record with patience: naming formations only when the structure earns the name, and waiting for confirmation before treating a sketch as a plan.
Web Analytics was founded to teach that craft in person. The name reflects the work — analysing the web of highs, lows, and consolidations that appear on a chart — not a software product.
Origin
The practice began as an informal reading circle in Bindera, where neighbours brought printed weekly charts of ASX names and commodity futures. Over time the circle needed clearer sequencing: reversals before continuations, measured moves before opinion. That sequence became the workshop curriculum we still teach.
How we work
- Paper before screens. Hand markup slows the eye and exposes sloppy trendlines.
- Names with conditions. A pattern is not “almost” complete; it either meets classical criteria or it does not.
- Invalidation spoken aloud. Every formation discussed includes the price behaviour that would cancel it.
- Education, not advice. We teach recognition. You keep your own brokerage decisions.
Values
We favour small rooms over large lectures, quiet correction over performance, and Australian market examples alongside the international classics. Students are adults with day jobs and families; we schedule evenings accordingly and do not pretend markets are a hobby without risk.
Community
Graduates often return for the Evening Pattern Circle. Investment clubs from the wider Hunter and Sydney regions book briefings when they want members speaking the same pattern language. If that sounds like the company you keep, send an enquiry.
